It's back to school time and back to dance! We love reading at Mary Lou's School of Dance and love to incorporate story into many of our camps and Dance Foundations classes. Here's a list of some of our favorites for every age.
1. Tallulah's Tap Shoes
Recommended reading age: Preschool - 2nd Grade
This delightful book is one of many in a series of Tallulah books about dance. We love them all, but we are particularly fond of this story for our young tappers. This story also teaches dancers life lessons about trying new things.

2. Miss Lina's Ballerinas
Recommended reading age: Preschool- Grade 1
Beautiful illustrations inspire the ballerina inside us all in Miss Lina's Ballerinas. Rhyming and whimsy make this story a favorite. It reminds us of the classic story, Madeline.

3. Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina
Young Readers Edition
Recommended reading age: Grade 4-8
Be inspired by the story of current Prima Ballerina, Misty Copeland. Misty has truly broken the traditional mold of "ballerina" and inspires young dancers to be who they are and to work hard to achieve their dreams. We recommend the Young Readers Edition to our students, however older dancers or parents could read the full version.
